Quest Software's JProbe is First Java Performance Toolkit to Be Validated by BEA.

IRVINE, Calif. -- Quest APM Suite for the J2EE Platform Designed to be a Complete BEA-Validated WebLogic Lifecycle Management Solution

Quest Software (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, today announced that the Quest JProbe(R) Suite has become the first Java performance toolkit to complete the BEA Validation Program and be verified to integrate with BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 from BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:BEAS). Quest JProbe joins the Quest Application Performance Management (APM) Suite for the J2EE platform, which passed the BEA Validation Program in May 2004, to provide application lifecycle management for applications that rely on the industry-leading WebLogic platform. Together, Quest JProbe and the Quest APM Suite for the J2EE platform help customers develop, deploy and manage high-performing WebLogic applications.

"BEA is pleased to name Quest JProbe as the first Java Performance toolkit to be BEA-validated," said Scott Edgington, vice president and general manager of worldwide channels and alliances, BEA Systems. "Partners like Quest Software can play a critical role in extending and complementing BEA's leading application infrastructure software. Now joint BEA and Quest Software customers can be assured that Quest solutions are designed to integrate well with BEA's industry-leading software platform."

Quest JProbe is a performance tuning toolkit for Java code, providing powerful Java performance profiling, memory debugging, code coverage and thread analysis capabilities in one conveniently integrated suite. Graphically depicting everything from memory usage to calling relationships, Quest JProbe can help developers understand what is causing problems in Java applications - right down to the offending line of source code.

Quest JProbe is part of the BEA-Validated Quest APM Suite for the J2EE platform, which provides IT professionals with a comprehensive suite of products designed to help detect, diagnose and resolve application performance issues in critical J2EE environments. The Quest APM Suite for the J2EE platform includes:

--Foglight(R), which monitors all components of the technology stack that affect service-oriented applications running on the BEA WebLogic Platform;

--Spotlight(R) for WebLogic Server, a real-time visual representation of the application, service, and resource usage within WebLogic and diagnoses the root causes of issues;

--PerformaSure(R), a transaction-centric view of J2EE application performance and diagnostics using Quest's Tag-and-Follow(TM) technology which allows users to diagnose complex performance bottlenecks across an entire J2EE system quickly and easily.

--JProbe Suite, a performance toolkit for Java code tuning, providing fast resolution to performance and memory issues right down to the offending line of code.

"As the complexity of J2EE applications increases, performance issues related to underlying code emerge as critical components that IT organizations need to address," said Larry Humphries, vice president, development solutions, Quest Software. "Quest JProbe, as a part of the Quest APM Suite for the J2EE platform, expedites J2EE performance management for developers as well as production support and QA engineers to provide joint Quest/BEA customers with the flexibility to solve application performance management issues in both development and production environments."

The BEA Validation Program is designed to provide a testing framework to verify the technical readiness of partner solutions that complement, operate with, or extend BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1. Partners can validate the integration of their software applications and solutions with BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 or the interoperability of Java controls and extensions with BEA WebLogic Workshop(TM) 8.1. The BEA Validation Program is open to all partners enrolled in the BEA Partner Program.
