Quarterdeck Ships CleanSweep for Administrators; Customizable, Safe and Complete Hard Drive Cleanup For Small to Medium Sized Businesses.

MARINA DEL REY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1998-- Quarterdeck Corporation (Nasdaq:QDEK), the world's leading provider of PC helpware solutions for networked personal computing, today announced it is shipping CleanSweep for Administrators, a powerful administration tool for creating customized versions of CleanSweep that can be distributed throughout an enterprise.

"CleanSweep for Administrators ensures network managers have complete control over the use of CleanSweep within the organization," said Gary Ulaner, group product manager at Quarterdeck Corporation. "It is the only enterprise solution available for creating a custom version of an uninstaller and provides the safest and most complete hard drive cleanup program available for corporate end users who need to remove unneeded programs and files from their Windows 95/98/NT systems."

About CleanSweep for Administrators

CleanSweep for Administrators provides a robust, easy-to-use tool for creating customized configurations of CleanSweep that can be distributed to workstations across the organization. Administrators can create "novice" to "expert" configurations for different network users and maintain complete control over the access to CleanSweep functionality by enabling or disabling specific features or entire program tabs. Administrators can also "lockdown" a pre-configured version of CleanSweep by locking out the Options Tab in the CleanSweep client installation. Unauthorized modifications to CleanSweep program settings are prevented, allowing users to access only the features the administrator deems appropriate.

CleanSweep for Administrators also includes an easy-to-use Configuration Editor that allows administrators to modify previously created CleanSweep configurations. Administrators can also temporarily override all disabled features on the client desktop to access specific CleanSweep features that were formerly locked out.

About CleanSweep

CleanSweep also finds and removes duplicate, unused, underused, and orphaned files, redundant DLLs, and the widest variety of Internet debris, including Internet "cookies," ActiveX controls, Netscape and Internet Explorer cache files and browser plug-ins, than any other product. CleanSweep provides easy-to-use tools for cleaning, optimizing and editing the Windows Registry, exclusive technology for one-button and scheduled cleanups, automatic protection against accidental file deletion, and automatic updates over the Internet.
