Quantum to Develop Hydrogen Hybrid Under U.S. Army Contract.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. recently announced it has been awarded a contract to develop a hydrogen-fueled Ford Escape Hybrid vehicle for the U.S. Army's National Automotive Center.

According to Quantum, the company's duties under the contract include the evaluation of various hydrogen fuel system configurations as well as the development of an advanced hydrogen storage system, fuel injection system, and electronic controls.

"We are pleased that the U.S. Army has selected Quantum to develop the Hydrogen Escape Hybrid, as we continue our expansion into the hybrid vehicle market," said Quantum president and CEO Alan Niedzwiecki.

Quantum noted that the new contract complements its existing Mobile Hydrogen Infrastructure program, under which the company is demonstrating the effectiveness of its HyHauler Plus transportable hydrogen refueling stations.
