Quality Company.

It's no wonder Quality Foods Inc. of Little Rock is a hot property.

In 1990, it was No. 1 in growth of the top 50 food distributors nationwide.

This year, the company is running 23 percent ahead of that pace.

Quality has expanded its operations into Mississippi, Tennessee and Oklahoma. It is eyeing a couple of food distribution companies in other states.

Word has it that a major offer was made -- and turned down -- from an out-of-state company to purchase Quality Foods.

Officials there refused comment.

However, they confirmed expansion plans.

Recently, they closed a deal to purchase Linda's Used Appliances & Furniture at 5003 Asher Ave., giving Quality Foods more room to operate. Construction on a facility to service company trucks will begin within two weeks.
