Quaker Fabric's Global Strategy to Benefit from Start up of New Finishing Line in China.

FALL RIVER, Mass. -- QUAKER FABRIC CORPORATION (NASDAQ Symbol: QFAB) and Hangzhou Zhongwang Fabric Products Company, Ltd. today jointly announced the planned start-up of a state of the art finishing and post-finishing plant at Zhongwang's manufacturing facilities in Hangzhou, China, making it the only modern vertically-integrated upholstery fabric mill in China. Based on technology and technical support provided by Quaker, this new plant is scheduled to commence operations in November, with the proprietary portion of the technology employed in it to be used exclusively to finish Quaker products.

"Fabric finishing has long been a source of competitive advantage for Quaker. So, one of the objectives we set for ourselves when we first began working with Zhongwang was to assist them with the installation of state-of-the-art finishing and post-finishing capability so that we could maintain that competitive edge in all of our products. This new facility will allow us to do that by replicating, in China, the fabric finishes which give our products such a competitive edge in the U.S. And with it in operation, all of our customers around the globe can continue to count on Quaker for superior delivery and product quality, whether the product they've ordered from Quaker is manufactured in Massachusetts or China," commented Larry A. Liebenow, Quaker's President and CEO.

Quaker Fabric Corporation is a leading manufacturer of woven upholstery fabrics for furniture markets in the United States and abroad, and the largest producer of Jacquard upholstery fabric in the world.
