Qatari students to be honoured at Muscat event.

Six students from Qatar will be honoured for their outstanding academic achievement during the fifth Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States Award ceremony for Education Excellence in Muscat today.

The nominated students are Saqr bin Shabat al-Muraikhi (Al Shahaniya Model Independent School for Boys), Abdullah Yusuf al-Kbi (Al-Yarmouk Preparatory Independent School for Boys), Hamad al-Madhi al-Hajri (Omar bin al-Khattab Secondary Independent School for Boys), Nojod Ahmed al-Ansari (Khadija bint Kowailed Primary Independent School for Girls), Fatima Salem al-Manai and Asma Yusof Ali bin Ali (Al Bayan Preparatory School).

In addition to a certificate of achievement, the students will receive financial rewards and a commemorative souvenir, an official said.

The Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States Award aims to honour students with outstanding academic performance and motivate them to continue their success as well as encourage other students to follow in their footsteps.

The event is sponsored by Al Marai Company in collaboration with GCC member states' education ministries.

The award is granted based on the highest scientific and educational standards. It reflects the commitment of the education ministries of the member countries in promoting innovation and educational excellence as well as encouraging healthy competition among students, the official said.

Each state nominates three male and three female students for their outstanding academic performance. The students will be accompanied and supervised by Ahmed Hassan al-Ansari from Omar bin al-Khattab Secondary School and Hanan Ahmed Abu Moza from Al Bayan Secondary School, the official said.
