Qatar : Ashghal to shift U-turn on Al Luqta Street to enable construction of new underpass.
The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, will close an existing U-turn on Al Luqta Street to enable the construction of an underpass on the Dukhan Highway East project.
The minor road change, which is located near Nega Al Sahla Street in the Bani Hajer area, has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. The traffic change will commence on Friday 23 June 2017, and is expected to be in operation until February 2018.
As shown on the attached map, the U-Turn on Al Luqta Street near one of the Education City entrances will be closed. As shown on the attached map, normal road users who are travelling eastbound on Al Luqta Street who wish to return to Dukhan are advised to continue straight and perform a U-Turn prior to the Nega Al Sahla Street traffic signal.
Truck drivers and other heavy vehicles will be required to continue to the Nega Al Sahla Street traffic signal, turn right and perform a U-Turn at the designated heavy vehicle turnaround point (shown in the top right of the map) and return to the Nega Al Sahla Street traffic signal before turning left towards Dukhan.
Ashghal advises that the newly created U-turn will only provide one lane for road users to turnaround. The Public Works Authority is also required to reduce the number of lanes on Al Luqta Street for the short section of road between the old U-Turn point and the new U-Turn point from three lanes to two lanes.
The Public Works Authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, which remains at 50 kph, and follow newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
