Qaa bids farewell martyrs in solemn funeral, words underline unity of ranks in face of evil plots.
NNA - The Beqai town of Qaa bid farewell on Wednesday in a solemn funeral its five martyrs who fell on Monday in the terrorist suicide bombings, amidst climates of grief, sorrow and tears of their loved ones and strict security measures. The five martyrs' coffins arrived on Wednesday afternoon at St Elias Church in the town coming from the gov-run Hermel hospital, wrapped with the Lebanese flags. Funeral itinerary and prayers were held at the Church on the souls of fallen martyrs, presided over by the Melkite Catholics Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Alexandria and Jerusalem Gregory III Laham's Representative Melkite Catholic Archbishop of Baalbeck Hermel, Elias Rahhal. The funeral was attended by scores of the town's dignitaries, martyrs' families, and political and party officials, including the Representative of House Speaker Nabih Berri, MP Emile Rahmeh, as well as Tourism Minister, Michel Pharoun, representing Prime Minister Tammam Salam. The Apostolic Nuncio Gabriel Caccia also attended the funeral. In a word delivered by Patriarchal Greek Catholic Bishop of Tripoli, Edward George Daher, in the name of Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregory III Laham, he stressed the dire need to stand united in the face of evil plots. "We stand united with this blessed town as it is bidding farewell its martyrs.. And we remember the martyrs of the Lebanese war." The bodies of the five martyrs were then carried to the town's cemetery where they were laid to rest. ===================== L.Y
