QUALITY AND PRODUCTIVITY GAINS WIN NEW GM BUSINESS FOR ARVIN NORTH AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE

 COLUMBUS, Ind., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Arvin North American Automotive (ANAA) has been awarded new business by General Motors (NYSE: GM). The new long-term contract covers exhaust systems for all Cadillac automobiles beginning with the 1995 model year, according to V. William Hunt, executive vice president, Arvin Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ARV).
 "This new business was made possible through the extraordinary effort of our plants in implementing our new quality/production system," Hunt stated.
 Arvin NAA is now in its second year of implementing the Arvin Total Quality Production System (ATQPS). ATQPS has helped Arvin streamline both production and support resources at all levels of the organization, resulting in continuous improvement in product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
