QUALCOMM RESPONDS TO INTERDIGITAL CLAIM

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- QUALCOMM Inc. (NASDAQ: QCOM) announced today that it has examined U.S. Patent No. 5,119,375 (the '375 Patent), which InterDigital Technology Corp. has requested be added by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to InterDigital's claim against QUALCOMM and Oki. The prosecution history of the '375 patent reveals that the patent has no application to CDMA equipment built in compliance with the Telecommunications Industry Association's CDMA standard IS-95. QUALCOMM will oppose the addition of the '375 Patent to this case and will continue to vigorously defend itself against InterDigital's meritless claims.
QUALCOMM develops, manufactures, markets, licenses and operates advanced communications systems and products based on digital wireless technology. QUALCOMM's products include the OmniTRACS satellite communications system, digital wireless telephone systems and products based on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)technology. The company also develops and markets a range of VLSI devices.
