QUAKER STATE ELECTS MARY R. WHITE, VP, ENVIRONMENTAL/GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

 OIL CITY, Pa., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Quaker State Corporation (NYSE: KSF) has elected Mary Ransford White to the position of vice president, environmental/government affairs, it was announced today.
 White has been with Quaker State for nearly 17 years and most recently was corporate environmental director. Prior to assuming that position in 1990, she was corporate attorney (1976-80), corporate secretary (1980-85), and manager of administration operations for the oil and gas exploration and production division (1985-90).
 White is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Quincy University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Before joining Quaker State, she was associated with Dale & Woodard, a Franklin, Pa., law firm, and was public defender for Venango County, Pa., from 1973 to 1976.
 White is a frequent speaker on environmental affairs and is currently chair of the American Petroleum Institute's Used Oil Working Group which consists of representatives from 19 member companies. This group promotes and coordinates used motor oil collection activities in every state and acts as an information center for those interested in used motor oil recycling.
 Active in civic affairs, White is chair of the nursing advisory board of Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and chair of the Barrow/Civic Theatre Foundation. She is a board member of the Clarion University Advisory Board, the Venango County Association for the Blind and the Venango County Community Foundation.
 White resides in Franklin with her husband, Judge H. William White. They have three adult children: Will, David and Allison.
