QUAKER STATE CORPORATION NAMES C. FRED FETTEROLF TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 OIL CITY, Pa., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- C. Fred Fetterolf, retired president and chief operating officer of Aluminum Company of America, has been named a director of Quaker State Corporation (NYSE: KSF), effective immediately.
 Fetterolf, 64, is a native of Franklin, Pa., and a 1946 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He joined Alcoa as a sales trainee in Pittsburgh following his graduation from Grove City College, Grove City, Pa. He held a variety of sales and management positions throughout the United States, and in 1977, was elected a vice president of Aluminum Company of America. He was elected director and president in 1983, and appointed chief operating officer in 1985, a position he held until his retirement in 1991.
 Fetterolf is a director of a number of other corporations, including Allegheny Ludlum Corporation, Mellon National Bank, Union Carbide Corporation and Praxair, Inc. He is chairman and director of The Metallized Paper Corporation of America.
 Fetterolf serves on various community and educational organizations. He is trustee of Grove City College and Carnegie Mellon University, director and chairman of the executive committee of public television station WQED, chairman of the steering committee of the Hill District Ministries. He is also 1992-93 chairman of the administrative and executive committees of the Billy Graham Crusade, chairman of the Eastern College Visionary Committee, and a member of the board of Prison Ministries and Penn's Southwest Corporation.
 Fetterolf holds an honorary doctorate from La Roche College. He is a recipient of honorary and achievement awards from such groups as the Grove City Alumni Association, the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, the National Association of Christians and Jews, the Anti-Defamation League and the National Jewish Fund.
 Fetterolf is a resident of Sewickley Heights, Pa.
