QIO toolkit gets new upgrade.
QUALITY IN Optometry (QiO), the interactive toolkit for GOS contract compliance and for clinical governance in Optometry has launched its latest upgrade.
Now, with this latest development, users can benefit from revised levels dealing with funded clinical governance, enhanced services, and infection control.
Additionally, the record-keeping audit has been further developed as an online tool.
The Optical Confederation and LOCSU urge GOS contractors to use QiO to prepare for contract compliance visits and to monitor the record keeping of their optometry performers.
LOCs are urged to insist that QiO is used as the basis for local clinical governance and enhanced service development.
Welcoming this update, John Hearnshaw, of NHS Primary Care Commissioning, said: "QiO makes it much easier for optical contractors to demonstrate to their PCTs that they are operating sound clinical governance procedures. The improved convergence between the revised levels 2 & 3 of QiO and Standards for Better Health should prove invaluable to those many PCTs who are increasingly seeking to link the award of contracts for local enhanced services to specific, standardised and reliable clinical governance achievements made by their optical contractors."
