QFC TO ACQUIRE TWO STORES
QFC TO ACQUIRE TWO STORES BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Quality Food Centers Inc.
(QFC) (NASDAQ: QFCI) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire two stores in Snohomish County, Wash., from Haggen Inc. The stores are currently operated under the Haggen Foods name. The acquisition is subject to certain conditions, including obtaining necessary permits and licenses, and is expected to be completed during the first quarter.
One of the stores is located in West Lynnwood and is 22,000 square feet. The second store is located in Alderwood and is 37,000 square feet. Both stores will be leased. Stuart Sloan, QFC's chairman and chief executive officer said, "We are extremely pleased about this acquisition. These will be our first stores in Snohomish County to be followed by our store in Harbour Pointe which we plan to open this summer. We look forward to the opportunity for QFC to serve these fine communities." QFC is the largest independent supermarket chain in Seattle/King County. QFC has served this growing area for 36 years and today has 30 stores in operation.
