QED COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES STAFF REDUCTIONS

PITTSBURGH, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Donald C. Korb, CEO of QED Communications, Inc., today announced the elimination of 24 positions to better stabilize QED's operations and to adjust staffing to pursue new programming strategies.
Today's staff reductions involve the elimination of a range of senior and middle management, and clerical positions, including the previously announced retirements of COO Tom Skinner and Senior Staff Executive Howard Goldman.
"Since we began the reorganization process, we have developed a better understanding of the challenges we face and the corrective actions that are necessary," said Korb. "While we will work to achieve greater operating efficiencies to respond to the needs of the community, no further staff reductions of this kind are anticipated."
QED also announced it has arrived at a new contract agreement with Local 820, International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the union which represents 33 of QED's technical staff members. The local agreed to a three-year contract, which includes increased employee contributions to health insurance and no salary increases.
