QCB to celebrate National Sport Day.

By Sports Reporter/Doha The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) will organise road races for employees of all banks, financial institutions and insurance companies on February 12 as part of the National Sport Day celebrations. The races will be held in three age groups -- between 18 and 30, 31 and 45 and 46 and 60, the QCB announced at a press conference yesterday. "The National Sport Day is a very special day for all Qataris and expatriates as it strives to inculcate a passion for sport and fitness the importance of which cannot be overemphasised," Abdulla al-Zaini, former president of the Qatar Association of athletics Federations (QF), told reporters. Al-Zaini will be using his expertise as a top athletics official to help with the organisation of the races. The event will be held along the Corniche in the morning. "Participants should report at the start at 7am for the races which will start at 8am sharp," al-Zaini added. Winners and strong finishers will receive prizes worth thousands of riyals. Participants will be required to submit entry forms with their photos and collect their chest numbers. Bank officials Adel al-Enazi, Adel al-Baker and Ahmed Khalaf also attended the press conference.
