London QC John Kelsey-Fry, who was one of only five "star-rated" silks for crime in 2009, is believed to have been paid up to pounds 250,000 for just a week of work in Liverpool.
But he came highly-rated after representing a string of A-list and Hollywood stars, including Sharon Stone, Sharon Osbourne and triumphing against Vanity Fair on behalf of controversial film director Roman Polanski.

In 2007, he successfully defended champion jockey Kieren Fallon when he was prosecuted for alleged race fixing, getting the case thrown out at the Old Bailey.

He successfully prosecuted Charlie Kray, the older brother of Ronnie and Reggie, for a pounds 39m cocaine deal and necrophiliac killer Graham Coutts, who was jailed for life with a minimum of 30 years for murdering his pregnant lover's best friend and storing her body for five weeks.
