Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista approved an ordinance that will develop a parcel of land in Barangay San Bartolome for the socialized housing project site intended for the city's informal settler families (ISFs).
With its approval, the city government has further established its goal of relentlessly providing opportunities to informal settlers/residents to own in-city, affordable, and decent housing.
City Ordinance 2815-2019, introduced by Councilors Marivic Co-Pilar and Godofredo T. Liban II, states that the parcel of land in San Bartolome, measuring 920 square meters, previously owned by Avelina L. Osias, has been found suitable for socialized housing.
"It is now necessary for the Quezon City government to use the said parcel of land for a socialized housing project to solve the present urban poor dwelling problem of the city in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Code of 1991 and Republic Act No. 7279, otherwise known as the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992," the ordinance read.
The Housing, Community Development and Resettlement Department (HCDRD) will undertake social preparation selection and pre-qualification of beneficiaries of the project, as well as the processing of their loan documents.
On the other hand, the City Legal Department will be mandated to undertake necessary courses of action to transfer the titles of the subject properties to be under the Quezon City government.
The Task Force Housing will also be tasked to prepare the project feasibility study, necessary plans, specifications, and other related documents for the successful implementation of a proposed socialized housing project on the said property.
