 Q-MED REPORTS SECOND QUARTER RESULTS
 LAURENCE HARBOR, N.J., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Q-Med, Inc.

(NASDAQ: QEKG) today reported net sales for the second quarter ending May 31, 1992 of $1,950,860 compared to net sales of $2,029,578 for the corresponding period of the prior year. The company had a net loss of ($219,854) for the second quarter or $(.03) cents per share, compared to a net profit of $66,153 or $.01 cent per share for the second quarter of 1991. The company's working capital at May 31, 1992 was $2,241,459.
Michael W. Cox, CEO of Q-Med, commented that "the loss for the second quarter can be attributed to the initial confusion surrounding a new Medicare physician payment reform system called Resource Based Relative Value Scales (RBRVS) which caused physicians to postpone their purchasing decisions until the new Medicare program was fully implemented." Cox commented it was managements' opinion that this was an isolated event since sales in June, usually a slow period, are up by over 30 percent. In addition, Cox commented that the company has continued to expand its sales force and has just introduced two new products; an interpretive electrocardiograph and an instrument for diagnosing venous disorders. Initial sales of these products appear to be very encouraging.
