Pyramid Ales announces new v.p. sales.

Pyramid Breweries of Seattle, WA, has announced the appointment of Gary McGrath as the company's new vice president of sales. McGrath is a former Miller Brewing Co. executive.

"We're very excited to have Gary on board," said Martin Kelly, president and chief operating officer. "gary has over 15 years experience in the beverage business, and we feel fortunate to have someone with his expertise leading our sales and marketing efforts. His proven success in developing strategic plans as well as his effectiveness in working with retailers and distributors will help Pyramid's sales force develop into a best-in-class organization."

McGrath comes to Pyramid from the Miller Brewing Company, where he has held a variety of positions since 1994. As general manager for Miller's northwest region since early 1998, he was responsible for growing sales, market share and profit in a seven-state area. Prior to 1998, he worked as Miller's director of national accounts, developing strategies for the convenience and mass merchandise channels. He joined Miller as business development manager, working with distributors on sales, distribution and operations issues. Prior to his stint at Miller, McGrath worked for PepsiCola USA and 7UP.

"I'm thrilled to be joining Pyramid," McGrath said. "Pyramid already has a reputation as having a knowledgeable and professional sales force selling some of the best beer in the industry. I'm looking forward to working closely with out distributor partners and retail customers. I'm confident that we can continue to grow sales and profits in our craft beer and gourmet soda businesses."
