Put trust in Confidante; NEWMARKET.

CONFIDANTE can land the Caledonian Airways Rated Stakes (3.30) at York this afternoon, writes Tom Goff.

Sir Michael Stoute's three-year-old filly by Dayjur ran a cracking race in defeat last time at Ascot. She went down by one and a half lengths to the Peter Harris-trained Risque Lady in a mile rated stakes contest 11 days ago.

She got involved in a prolonged battle with the horse third that day, David Loder's Golden Fortune, whom she beat a neck. While she was winning that fight, the winner came flying by to claim the honours. She has come out of that race in good heart and should be on the premises here.

Clive Brittain can strike with Here And Now in the Istel Network Handicap (4.00) on the Knavesmire. The master of Carlburg scored last month with this three-year-old Green Forest filly belonging to the Thoroughbred Corporation. She got the better of the Brian Meehan-trained Indian Brave over six furlongs at Yarmouth. She has been placed over five furlongs before, so today's trip should not be a problem.

Albarahin looks to have a relatively easy task in the Voyager Millennium Maiden Stakes (4.30) at York. Godolphin's three-year-old by Silver Hawk has been off the track for a long time but his form when second to Rabah as a juvenile suggests that he has plenty of ability. He should despatch this opposition with the minumum of fuss.

YORK: 2.00 Mukasol, 2.30 Sunny Isle, 3.00 Candleriggs, 3.30 Confidante (nap), 4.00 Here And Now, 4.30 Albarahin
