IT is understandable there is anger over the huge sums of compensation driving up car insurance premiums.
It is sickening that many drivers are being fleeced with Ireland overtaking Britain as the European capital for motor insurance claims in recent years.
Some spongers are making a living out of illegitimate claims and with [euro]15,000 as the average compo, is anyone really surprised? The UK government is considering reducing awards from an average of PS1,850 to PS425 - and we need similar measures here.
The Irish Brokers' Association should be commended for its proposals that could help put an end to this compo culture.
