Purchase of ambulances.

Tenders are invited for purchase of twelve (12) ambulances

Hillsborough County intends to recommend the award of a sole source purchase of twelve (12) Ambulances to Halcore Group, Inc. d/b/a Horton Emergency Vehicles in the amount of $3,479,784.00. This procurement is considered a sole source because Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Department (HCFR) requirements for any new ambulances in its emergency resuce fleet meet mandates that all ambulance bodies be subject to and passes a controlled certified HI-G seld testing (minimum force of thirty (30) G s) that simulates an actual impact condition. The sled testing program must have been conducted on a continuous basis for a period of time no less than ten (10) years. Horton Rescue ambulances have been standardized based on sled testing utilizing the Horton Occupant Protection System (HOPS). The HOPS is a fully-tested system that combines advanced restraints, multi-density head protection, tubular airbags and head curtain airbags to protect attendants in a side impact rollover collision. In addition to the inflatable cushion system, the HOPS includes Horton s new progressive resistance headrest at all squad benchs and CPR seating positions. The HOPS is exclusive to Horton emergency vehicles.
