Pups and downs... We love BEST TV.

Mon BBC2 9pm

Kate Humble can't wait to expand her family, but husband Ludo isn't so keen. You can't blame him - she wants a whole litter! This documentary follows them as their Welsh Sheepdog Teg has her first puppies at their farm in Monmouth, South Wales.

'Can you imagine anything sweeter?' asks Kate, 47. Ludo can... 'It'll be three months of puppy poo for Christmas and beyond,' he says. Filmed over a year, the series will make you fall in love with Teg - 'who looks like a cross between David Bowie and Basil Brush' - but also highlights how true working sheepdog breeds are disappearing.

Kate's dog is set a herding challenge in Snowdonia to test her credentials. 'Both of us could get very shown up,' says Kate - who is pretty sure Teg is more comfortable lying on the sofa than being around lots of sheep. We also see the dog having a DNA test, there is a nationwide search for a mate then the puppies arrive (left). And even Ludo is won over by the passion project.

'Will my quirky Welsh Sheepdog save her breed?' asks Kate. 'Or will it all turn into a shaggy dog's tale?'
