Puppy power impresses the judges.

Byline: MIKE ROBERTS

Porthmadog. The puppies, walked and cared for until adulthood by people from across North Wales, were shown by Eryri huntsman Dylan Davies and whipper-in Iolo Humphreys for judges Roy Savage and Robert Medcalf, who is whipper-in for the Essex and Suffolk Hunt.

Apologies were made for the absence of Eryri hunt master Richard Williams, who is just out of hospital after an illness.

There were two classes for dog and bitch puppies of different strains -- some old Welsh hounds, others fells from Cumberland stock as well as hounds with David Davies (Llandinam) Hunt parentage. Mr Savage told the audience at the presentation ceremony: ``All you puppy walkers should be proud of your puppy. They are in very good condition, look very well. ``You walkers are a very important part of a hunt to get these pups off to a good start. You can see how well they are looking and how happy they are. ''
