Pune boy croons his way to the top.
The aspiring singer, who was part of local bands in Pune, won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2012 trophy at an extravagant grand finale, aired on Sunday night.
The 29- year- old had impressed the judges and audience alike.
Judges of the show, singer- composer Shankar Mahadevan, composer- duo Sajid- Wajid and bass guitarist Rahul Ram of Indian Ocean, encouraged Jasraj as they appreciated his unique fusion creations.
Jasraj defeated the other three finalists -- Shenaz Akhtar, Vishwajeet Borwankar and Mohammad Aman to bag the top award.
" This show has opened a new door for me as a singer. I have been struggling for the past nine years to gain a foothold and have been composing and performing for local bands," Jasraj said.
He managed to create a solid fan base for his ability to mellifluously blend western music with classical and folk tunes.
" My mentor Shankar has taken my knowledge of music to another level. His inputs and suggestions have helped me give good performances and garner maximum votes," added Jasraj.
" At the moment, I am enjoying my newly- acquired celebrity status," Jasraj said.
The grand finale also saw the first- ever TV performance by Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who presented a medley of his hit tracks such as ' Angrezi Beat', ' High Heels', ' Brown Rang' and ' Lonely'.
