Pump it up! Chamber promotes healthy lifestyles.
Exercise is the No. 1 goal of the 10-week contest. Participants pledge to exercise for a half hour a day five days a week, with weekly weigh-ins to track their success in dumping their plump. The Chamber has competed in this event the last three years.
"After 10 weeks of this contest you find yourself charged up and in great shape and ready to continue your healthy lifestyle," says team member Stephan Kielmann. "Our Wellness Committee is always looking for new ways to promote wellness, and this contest fits into our overall program."
The Chamber also sponsors internal "fitness challenges" each month to give staff a fun way to achieve their wellness objectives. Special classes such as Pilates are also offered in addition to regular health screenings and learning sessions.
