Pub gets go-ahead for luxury lodge development.

PLANS to build luxury lodges in the grounds of a Conwy Valley pub have been given the go-ahead.

The Tal-y-Cafn pub - which re-opened last summer after six years - wants to demolish an existing iron shed and replace it with cabins and a lodge development.

It would bring extra jobs to the site where 45 staff were taken on after Castell Developments opened the pub following a PS1m renovation.

Now planners have given the project the green light.

Developers hope to commence works later this year, which will consist of site clearance and terrain alterations with a view to commence construction early 2018.

Craig Edwards, from Castell Developments, said: "West Coast Log Homes UK are delighted with the planning result and together with Castell Developments hope to create another award winning leisure development in the Conwy valley.

"The accommodation development will work hand in hand with The Tal y Cafn restaurant and create new job positions in the area in addition to those already created at the restaurant."

Operators hope that the luxury sustainable accommodation offering will encourage 12 months of tourism trade and provide guests and families with a unique accommodation and dining experience in the heart of the Conwy Valley.

The development will feature a host of renewable technology across nine en-suite bedrooms and a three bedroom detached lodge.

Dylan Wyn Hughes, general manager of The Tal y Cafn, said: " We are delighted with the news that the development of the land adjacent to The Tal y Cafn pub has received the planning consent to begin work.

"This will offer fantastic accommodation for visitors to the area, whilst they explore all that this great region has to offer.

"Here at the Tal y Cafn Pub we are excited to work on further enhancing our offering alongside this project, that will benefit visitors to the area as well as our loyal local market.

"We have enjoyed a successful first year at the Tal y Cafn, and are looking forward to the future growth of the Pub and accommodation."
