Proximity smart card system.

Smaller than a credit card, the new contactless proximity smart card from Alco Advanced Technologies, Inc., of Weston, Florida, works with the Intelli-M System, an access control unit and integrated door controller. Power and data transmission are provided on a single twisted pair. Because processing power and memory are combined, savings of as much as 50 percent can be achieved on labor and installation. The system, which can be used for medical information, biometrics, debit, and other applications, is scalable up to 32,000 doors.
