6.30am: Answer the wake-up call of our second child, Jack, five-months-old, for his first feed of the day. This is closely followed by my three-year-old daughter, Sophie. I do what I can to help wash and feed them before leaving my partner, Pam, to cope for the remainder of the morning.
6.50am: Leave home for my 25-minute commute to a business networking club at the Hilton Hotel, St Helens. Here, I have breakfast and give a 60-second talk on my business. This is a good chance to catch up with other business owners in the area and refer potential clients to one another.
8.50am: Arrive at work and sit down with my manager to discuss the forthcoming agenda for the day. I check and respond to all my emails. This morning we have enquiries from an accountant and an advertising company requiring office space both short and long term.
9.45am: A builder arrives who is interested in taking a storage room from us, as he has security issues with his current storage provider. I show him around the facility and he is impressed. He agrees to sign up on the day.
10.30am: The post arrives and our staff sort it into mail boxes for our customers. These provide a virtual address to customers not wishing to use their home address. It also gives them a company presence within the St Helens area without having to set up an office there.
11.20am: One of many phone calls made between myself and my manager at The Removal Team, Paul Tinsley. These could involve any decisions Paul may need my advice on or, alternatively, work being passed via the two companies where our customers may require both removals and storage.
12.30pm: Grab a swift sandwich at my desk, but don't stop for too long as lunch breaks are for wimps!
1.10pm: A company that is moving industrial premises has encountered problems with the legal side of the process and requires storage ASAP We find 2,500 sq ft of clean, secure bulk storage for them to temporarily store their machinery and office furniture.
1.30pm: Pam arrives to help out with the administrative and house keeping side of the facility.
2.15pm: Speak to Paul at The Removal Team regarding the setting up of a large contract in St Helens that can greatly benefit both The Storage Team and The Removal Team.
3.30pm: I speak to my graphic designer and printer regarding running our latest offer, which includes a Spring Clean Declutter theme and offers two weeks' free storage.
4pm: Speak to a couple of local car dealerships struggling for space on their forecourts. We currently offer high security external storage to ease such problems.
4.30pm: Authorise logo design with PPE supplier to be inserted on all our company work wear.
4.45pm: Speak to local press regarding release to go out, informing the public of our intention to commission our second phase of construction works at the end of April, one month earlier than planned.
5.30pm: Ask my manager for progress report regarding our agenda set at the beginning of the day. We also provisionally plan for the following day.
5.40pm: Off to the gym for a quick workout and to burn some calories that have built up whilst sitting at my desk!
7.15pm: Arrive home, sit down to dinner and play with the kids for a funny half hour!
7.50pm: Put kids to bed and relax with Pam in front of the TV, safe in the knowledge I have to do it all again tomorrow.
