Protests are abandoned.

VIOLENT protests which left two people dead and more than 120 injured in the Thai capital of Bangkok were called off yesterday.

The anti-Government demos involving around 2,000 people petered out when four protest leaders gave themselves up to police.

Protest spokesman Suporn Attawong said: "We've decided to call off the rally because many brothers and sisters have been hurt and killed and we will not allow more deaths."
