Pros and Cons--1.

Some situations in life have distinct advantages, while others present clear disadvantages. The same can be said about the twenty words for which clues have been supplied in Column A below. Each word sought there can be prefaced with either PRO or CON to create a new one whose definition appears somewhere in Column B. For example, if the clues "aver" and "type of gland" appeared in Columns A and B, respectively, the response "STATE" and "PROSTATE" would be appropriate. Similarly, the prompts "monarch" and "hitting on the head" would elicit the answers "KING" and "CONKING". To insure equilibrium, there are the same number of PRO and CON words in Column B.

A pair of bonus queries have been appended for further consideration, in which three definitions--one each for the "root word" and its two PRO and CON counterparts-have been offered. Accordingly, "channel", "direct result", and "behavior" would suggest DUCT, PRODUCT, and CONDUCT.

One final thought-aside from its derivatives, there is only one lexicon entry which displays both PRO and CON. Can you identify it?
