Prolific burglar stole property worth PS800k across four counties; COVENTRY MAN, 24, LOCKED UP FOR SIX-AND-A-HALF YEARS.

A PROLIFIC Coventry burglar whose crime spree across the Midlands saw him steal property worth more than PS800,000 in just five months has been jailed for six-and-a-half years.

Dale Melia of Grantham Street, admitted a series of burglaries and thefts across four counties.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to 28 counts of burglary, six counts of theft of motor vehicle, two counts of attempted burglary, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

The offences were committed in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire between October 2018 and March 2019.

Included in his haul were 19 luxury cars including BMWs and Mercedes.

Melia was identified after forensic evidence linked him to a number of offences.

He was eventually arrested in Coventry on March 27 following several police wanted appeals.

Melia was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court in Leamington last week.
