Project to promote agricultural sectors and local development inaugurated in Siliana.

(TAP) - Samir Taieb, Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries kicked off, Wednesday in Siliana, the project to promote agricultural sectors for the territorial development of Siliana covering 35 imadas from the delegations of Rouhia, Makthar, Kisra, South Siliana and Bargou.

The project, whose cost is estimated to more than 74 million Tunisia dinars and that will be realized over 6 years, aims to support agricultural development projects funded by the Tunisian State, with the participation of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The objective of the project is to improve the living conditions of people in vulnerable rural areas south of Siliana governorate and generate jobs.

The project addresses the management of natural resources, strengthening of basic agricultural infrastructure and equipment, through involvement of public stakeholders, professionals and private sectors in the various agricultural sectors.

It will target 13 thousand 600 rural families (about 54 thousand people) representing small farmers and livestock farmers, farm works, rural women, jobseekers and university graduates.
