Producer Price Index up in 2017, says Statistics Bureau.

RAMALLAH, January 31, 2018 (WAFA) -- The overall Producer Prince Index in Palestine increased by 0.88% compared to 2016 (Base month = December 2015), said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.

PCBS said prices of PPI for 2017 increased due to the increase in the prices of goods in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities by 7.65%, in addition to the prices of goods in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply group by 6.13%.

The increase of PPI was also due to the increase in the prices of goods in agriculture, forestry and fishing group by 0.66%. Meanwhile, the prices of goods in mining and quarrying group decreased by 0.32%, and the prices of goods in manufacturing group decreased by 0.20% in 2017 compared to 2016.

The prices of locally consumed products increased by 0.98%, while the prices of local exported products slightly decreased by 0.04%.

Decrease in the Producer Price Index during December 2017

The overall Producer Price Index (PPI) for Palestine decreased by 0.45% compared to November 2017.

Producer Price Index for locally consumed products (December 2015=100) reached 98.99 in December 2017, which indicates a decrease by 0.47% compared to November 2017.

Producer Price Index for local exported products (December 2015=100) reached 99.23 in December 2017, which indicates a decrease by 0.33% compared to November 2017.
