Probe on 'abuse' at aid camp.

MILITARY police are probing allegations that nine Iraqi men were tortured by British soldiers at an aid camp, the MoD confirmed last night.

The men claim they were beaten and abused at Camp Breadbasket, near Basra, in May 2003.

One Iraqi claims he was kicked so hard by soldiers in the genitals that he cannot have children.

The men's lawyer Phil Shiner claimed that a court martial in Germany earlier this year - at which four soldiers at the camp were convicted of mistreating prisoners - had been a "put-up job". Two are now appealing.

The MoD said all the allegations were being investigated to see whether charges should be brought.
