Probability with applications and R.

Probability with applications and R.

Dobrow, Robert P.

496 pages

Dobrow presents a probability textbook for undergraduate students who are familiar with multivariable calculus. A course based on it could stand alone as a terminal course, he says, but it would also prepare students for upper-level courses in statics, stochastic processes, and actuarial sciences. The text draws from his experience at a small liberal arts college, teaching not only mathematics major but also students of the natural and social sciences and occasionally the humanities. The emphasis is on simulation. An appended tutorial helps students get up and running with the open-source R software.
