compliance at innovative Y2K lab

ProBusiness Services, Inc. (NASDAQ:PRBZ), a leading provider of employee administrative services, Web-based software and outsourced solutions for large employers nationwide, today announced that its comprehensive payroll and payroll tax filing services are fully-tested and certified as Year 2000 compliant. Additionally, ProBusiness clients are actively using ProBusiness' Y2K laboratory for the testing and certification of their own payroll and tax filing processes.

The ProBusiness Y2K lab, located in the Company's Pleasanton headquarters facility, is used for complete validation testing of ProBusiness' and clients' payroll and payroll tax filing processes. Many ProBusiness clients, including retailers J.C. Penney and Bombay Company as well as Citizens Business Bank, selected the Company's outsourced payroll and payroll tax filing services because of their guaranteed Y2K compliance.

"Our primary goal in selecting a payroll provider was to have a complete payroll service that could easily integrate with our human resource and other systems, was Y2K-ready and had excellent customer support," said Tom Rubenstein, corporate controller at Bombay. "ProBusiness is the only provider we found that meets and exceeds our requirements."

"ProBusiness is very well prepared for Y2K compliance testing and issues," said Lucy Acosta, assistant vice president and personnel officer for Citizens Business Bank in Ontario, Calif. "Their Y2K lab is great - we transmitted 3 payrolls while remaining in the same room in the lab environment. We encountered no Y2K problems with any of the payrolls."

"Year 2000-readiness is a critical concern for corporations," said Tom Sinton, CEO of ProBusiness Services, Inc., "At ProBusiness, we have alleviated concerns about this issue for our clients and prospects. Not only are ProBusiness's payroll and payroll tax filing offerings tested and certified as Year 2000-compliant - the ProBusiness test laboratory is available to our clients to certify their own payroll and tax filing processes, using their own unique employee data and company configurations. This enables clients and prospects to move ahead with their buying decisions with complete confidence."

"As the end of the century draws near, the Year 2000 technical and legal issues become increasingly material to companies and organizations," he continued. "While we share the concern that some vendors may not be meeting their Year 2000 disclosure obligations, we're confident that companies selecting ProBusiness are effectively addressing their own Y2K issues as they relate to payroll and payroll tax filing."

More About ProBusiness' Y2K Compliance

In developing its Y2K readiness programs, ProBusiness obtained guidance from Deloitte & Touche who produce the Company's SAS70 "Report on Policies and Procedures placed in Operation and Tests of Operating Effectiveness." Additionally, ProBusiness engaged a representative sample of their client base to participate in application testing process and validate its output. Many of ProBusiness clients' Year 2000 standards are governed by FFIEC guidelines and, as such, the Company has adopted those same guidelines throughout its Year 2000 project.
