Prizes for university scientists.
Professor Brian Tanner and Professor Charles Adams have been honoured by leading scientific society the Institute of Physics.
Professor Tanner, who is dean for university enterprise and a professor of physics at Durham, receives the 2014 Gabor Medal and Prize for distinguished work in the application of physics in an industrial, commercial or business context.
Professor Adams, a member of the joint quantum centre in Durham's department of physics, receives the Thomson Medal and Prize for distinguished research in atomic or molecular physics.
Professor Adams said: "This is excellent news for experimental physics at Durham."
