Prisoner to sue over eye.
Keith Wilson, 34, claims he could go blind as a result of receiving no treatment for a serious eye injury.
Disqualified driver Wilson has a detached retina and has been in custody in Greenock since May 30, during which time he missed an operation for corrective surgery scheduled for July in his home town of Sunderland.
Solicitor Bob Kerr told Paisley Sheriff Court, where Wilson appeared last week for sentencing, that his client planned to claim against the prison, adding he hoped the case would be dealt with as quickly as possible so Wilson could seek the necessary medical attention.
"Basically, he is not getting any treatment at all," said Mr Kerr, whose request for bail was turned down.
"He has been given only paracetamol for the headaches he suffers daily."
Wilson, who had admitted driving while banned, without insurance and perverting the course of justice, had his sentence deferred for the production of a driving licence print-out. He was remanded until October 2.
