Priority for Priory.

FURTHER to our growing reputation as the Hollywood of the north,The Insider hears that the latest filming project has seen TV crews descending on Norton Priory in Runcorn. The historic site was chosen by makers of a new WW2 blockbuster, Island At War, which is set on the fictional Channel Island of St Gregory, occupied at the beginning of June 1940.

The six-part drama starringSaskia Reeves ,exCorrie actress Joanne Froggatt and James Wilby ,is being shot in Manchester,Cheshire and the Isle of Man -but Granada bosses were particularly keen on transforming Norton Priory.

As our exclusive photo shows,it was turned into a nightclub, the 50:50 Bar, whereEnglish then German soldiers spent their evenings listening to June Mahy (actress Samantha Robinson ) singing wartime classics. We'llMeet Again, anyone?
