Wildlife viewing, glacier trekking, salmon bakes -- the Alaska experience offers something for everyone, whether they are an adventure seeker, an avid fisherman, a gourmet, a gallery hopper or just someone looking to relax. By land, sea or air, this summer Princess offers an astounding array of Alaska excursions, both from its ships and from its own custom-built wilderness lodges. Ever the innovator in Alaska, Princess has added 30 new adventure options for a lineup that features more than 200 ways to tour the "Great Frontier."

"The nature of the ports and attractions of Alaska are as varied and unique as the visitors who come to experience them," said Dean Brown, Princess's executive vice president of customer service and sales. "And with the extraordinary line-up of land excursions Princess is offering this summer, our guests will have no problem creating vacations tailored to their individual interests -- having to choose will be the hardest part."

Princess's C.R.U.I.S.E.(R) customer service program, which emphasizes "Courtesy, Respect, Unfailing in Service Excellence," continues the company's emphasis on quality service to its Adventures Ashore(R) operators in Alaska. Only Princess tracks passenger opinion and recognizes a "tour of the year" and "guide of the year" among its tour providers. "For our Alaska shore excursion operators, these awards are a prestigious acknowledgement of the high level of service they provide to visitors," said Brown.

Princess-exclusive excursions for 2003 include:

Wrangell Lakes Canoeing (Princess Exclusive) - Guests at Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge can enjoy paddling a large expedition-type canoe through the pristine waters near Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The guided tour includes insights on local natural history and culture, and plenty of opportunities to view wildlife.

ATV Trail Ride (Princess Exclusive) - Guests of Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge can see Alaska from a different perspective as they travel by All Terrain Vehicle. The tour includes practice time for ATV novices, who will soon be enjoying majestic views of the Chugach Range and Tonsina River. Participants will also visit a log cabin homestead, meet a local dog mushing team and visit a beaver home.

Historic Kennicott and Wrangell-St. Elias Flight Adventure (Princess Exclusive) - A unique chance to fly over the nation's largest national park, Wrangell-St. Elias, and visit the historic towns of McCarthy and Kennicott. The eight-hour tour from Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge includes two flights and a guided tour of the Kennicott mines and the frontier town of McCarthy. (A Wrangell-St. Elias Air Panorama flight is also available.)

Remote Horseback Ride & Salmon Bake (New/Princess Exclusive) - Developed by Princess, this tour enables small groups to enjoy Juneau's less traveled back country on a two-mile horseback journey through the forest. Following the ride, passengers can feast on an all-you-can-eat meal of salmon, chicken or ribs. (Additional horseback trail rides are available in Juneau and Skagway, as well as from Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge and Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge.)

"Tokosha" - A Personal History & River Tour (Princess Exclusive) - A Princess favorite, this tour takes passengers to experience the wild side of Denali National Park, and learn first-hand about the lives of true Alaska homesteaders. Guests travel in an enclosed riverboat to an original homestead within the park. They'll meet the family and learn about their experiences making the wilderness their home.

North Pole Adventure (New/Princess Exclusive) - It's Christmas all summer with this tour to the North Pole ... North Pole, Alaska, that is. This excursion from Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge, lets passengers enjoy Christmas every day -- complete with reindeer and the largest Santa in the world. Participants can even mail postcards and letters from Santa with real North Pole postmarks.

Passengers can pre-reserve their Princess Adventures Ashore excursions as early as six months in advance of their cruise -- an industry exclusive -- online at www.princess.com. Those wise enough to take advantage of this option will find tour tickets waiting for them in their staterooms upon boarding. Guests at Princess's five wilderness lodges can reserve their local adventures through the on-site tour experts at each property.

As the leader in Alaska cruisetour vacations, Princess currently offers a lineup of six ships and 46 land options with which to create a custom land/sea vacation. The company operates its own riverside wilderness lodges -- Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge and Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge -- plus a fleet of Midnight Sun Express(R) UltraDome(R) railcars and luxury motorcoaches which take passengers through the heart of the 49th state.
