Prince of Darkness was children's nightmare.
His memoirs, due out on October 1, describe his formative years in Aston where he ditched school at 15 and worked in a glue factory, a car horn tuning workshop, an abbatoir and spent time in prison.
Sixty-year-old rocker Ozzy has written about his struggle with booze and the drunken events which surrounded him biting the head off a dove in a record company office. "It tasted just like Cointreau," he said.
He later went on to famously bite the head off a bat at a stage show in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1982, which led to a night in hospital being given rabies shots.
Ozzy also describes his horror at his own behaviour at his children's birthday party when he was left a "raving, screaming drunk" while his children fled terrified.
And his rock bottom came when he woke up in a jail cell accused of murdering wife Sharon while on a cocktail of drink and drugs.
"It was like someone had hit me over the head with a shovel," he said. " I couldn't speak, I couldn't do anything."
Ozzy also reveals how he was on a cocktail of drugs and booze during filming for popular reality TV show The Osbournes, and his horror at seeing his children following the same path.
