Prime Minister meets Canadian Treasury Board President.

Prime Minister Samir Rifai on Thursday discussed with President of the Canadian Treasury Board, Vic Toews, bilateral ties and ways of fostering them, especially in economic and trade spheres.

Rifai said Jordan is looking for further economic cooperation with Canada as the two countries have recently sealed a free trade agreement.

The premier briefed the Canadian official on the government's efforts to bring about economic and political reforms to improve citizens' living standards and strengthen democracy.

Rifai added the government is determined to carry out strategic projects within a comprehensive long-term vision to shore up the national economy, particularly increasing investments in energy and water sectors.

He noted to the cooperation between Jordan and Canada in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

For his part, the Canadian official commended measures taken to protect the Jordanian economy from the backdrop of the global credit crunch.
