Priest has lovechild with mum of three; Shamed churchman quits.
It is the latest sex scandal to rock the Catholic Church in Scotland.
The baby girl was born 12 weeks ago - after Father Eddie O'Donnell's affair with student nurse Ellen MacDonald, 32.
They met when he preached at St Bartholomew's Church, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
It's believed Father O'Donnell, 35, tried to keep the affair quiet, but suffered a nervous breakdown when his lover revealed last year she was pregnant.
He's now living alone in a flat near Coatbridge and training to be a computer operator.
The baby and her mother live in another flat in nearby Airdrie.
It's the latest embarrassment to hit the Catholic Church in Scotland in recent years.
Less than two years ago, disgraced Argyll and the Isles Bishop Roddy Wright ran off with divorced mum Kathy McPhee, causing a storm within the church.
After fleeing to the Lake District, Roddy Wright revealed he would rather watch Celtic than carry out his duties as a Bishop.
Meanwhile, Father O'Donnell's congregation were told he had been given leave to find himself - when he was really coming to terms with news of the pregnancy.
The child Mairi-Theresa was born at Bellshill Maternity Hospital three months ago.
On the birth certificate Father O'Donnell's occupation is given as counsellor.
He had been a priest for 11 years and has served Coatbridge for the past six.
A Catholic Church spokesman said last night that Father O'Donnell was no longer operating as a priest.
