On a calendar basis, this is the best year-to-date performance for the markets since 1999. Of course, despite the nice run-up off March lows, the Dow and S&P have just recently lurched back into positive territory. Meanwhile the Nasdaq is faring significantly better - up +9% on the year as of this writing.

But you don't have to look too far to see some of the impetus behind the relative outperformance for technology and cyclicals. Consider B2B Internet Holders (AMEX:BHH), which advanced over 30% in the past eight weeks. But a solid earnings quarter also propelled shares of the Internet's Big Three - Ebay, Amazon and Yahoo! to recent highs and that in turn supported a rally in Internet Holders (AMEX:HHH), which counts those stocks as top holdings.

IYH Commentary - Price Headley's stake in iShares Dow Jones U.S. Healthcare (AMEX:IYH) continues to be a steady if not spectacular performer through a choppy market environment. Not a lot news for stocks in this core holding as of late, though earnings season generally showed Big Pharma companies navigating challenges presented by generic drug makers and expiring patents deftly enough.

Wireless Holders (AMEX:WMH) Commentary - Headley's position in the wireless telecom space has lagged overall, despite a nice move up from March lows. And while he's seen strength in key handset players like Nokia on some improvement in outlook, investors have yet to reward shares of top holding Qualcomm as the market has rallied. In the short run, analysts are concerned that the SARS outbreak in China may impact wireless sales, though Headley's outlook is more positive beyond this near-term hurdle.
