Newcastle United fell to Preston thanks to two penalties in the second half.
Having gone in to the break 1-0 up thanks to a Jonjo Shelvey free-kick - Steve Bruce made nine half-time substitutions with only Federico Fernandez and Freddie Woodman surviving.
United themselves missed a penalty whenMiguel Almironsaw his effort saved after new signing Joelinton was tripped in the box.
Jamie Sterry than was adjudged to have handled Tom Clarke's cross, and Paul Gallagher netted from the spot.

Joelintonwas then ruled to have tripped Patrick Bauer in the area, and Gallagher netted again.
Unitedcouldn't find an equaliser but Steve Bruce speaking after said he wasn't too concerned with the result.
