PRESTATYN skipper Dave Harris saw four of his star teenagers all deliver crucial performances as the seasiders advanced to the third round of the Welsh Cup with an 80-run victory over Buckley at Beach Close, writes Mike McEvoy.
Choosing to bat, Prestatyn hammered 252-5 off their 45 overs with Ryan Westwell (80) and Danny Williams (51) leading the charge. Gareth Boughey cracked 41 before Rhys Jones hit 42 off 33 balls.
Aswin Karthikeyan picked up 2-29 off nine but in reply Buckley looked in deep trouble when they were reduced to 55-5 as Keiron New snapped up all first five wickets in a spell of 5-28 off 8.3 overs.
Wicketkeeper Paul Rambaldi (66) steadied the innings and Jim Blackwell added 27, but Buckley were all out on 172 in the 37th over.
Prestatyn will now take on Montgomery or Mochdre in the next round.
Meanwhile, Colwyn Bay's seconds went down to a defeat at home to Liverpool in the Chester Cup.
Opting to bat Liverpool finished on 280-8 from their 45 overs with James McNally hitting 98, while Sean McDonagh took 3-58 off eight, aided by Sam Roberts (2-45 off nine) and Arthur Jones (2-53 off nine).
McDonagh then fired 80 with the bat, after opener Dafydd Rhys put on 36.
Andy Pitman, coming in at number 10, smashed an unbeaten 39 off 22 deliveries in a valiant thrash but the unlucky Bay's last wicket fell on 276, just five runs short with seven balls remaining.
