STEVEN Pressley is poised to make his rst summer signing this week after positive talks with four potential Coventry City recruits.

Although not making any promises, the Sky Blues boss hopes to snap up the rst of three wide players he's targeted as his interest in Mark Marshall is understood to have cooled.

Marshall, who proved popular with the fans during 14 energetic appearances at the back end of last season. while on a short-term deal, appears to be on the back burner while Pressley "pursues other options.

"We are very, very close on certainly three or four at this moment in time.", one in particular," said Pressley who revealed that he's hopeful of signing up to ten new rst team players in all.

"e other three we hope to get over the line in the next few days, and I think they are exciting players for the club.

"e truth is that until they are in the building and signed I don't want to give any assurances to anyone that we're bringing these players in, but my hope is that we are very close on three or four players right now."

He added: "We're currently in talks with " three wide players because it's an area we have to strengthen, certainly with the loss of Franck Moussa.

"We didn't have an abundance of back-up last season so I would like to bring in three wide players over the course of the summer and we're quite far down the line with all three we've targeted at this moment in time."

e Telegraph understands that QPR's pacy Canadian winger Michael Petrasso - whom he would like to get on a season-long loan - remains on City's radar but is not one of the trio Pressley has held talks about at this stage.

e transfer window ocially opens today as players who have reached the end of their contract cease to be paid by their clubs, leaving the likes of Marshall and Moussa no longer on the books.

Pressley expects one or two players who are still under contract but do not gure in his plans to move on in the coming weeks, leaving plenty of scope to draft in new bodies.

"We are going to be really aggressive on our recruitment this year," said the City manager, "and I would hope that we will see an emergence from our Academy again.

"ere are still one or two that I informed at the tail end of last season regarding their futures, and hopefully one or two of those will move out in the coming week. When I look at when we have moved one or two out and look at the squad numbers as a whole, we probably need in the region of ten rst team players."

" Meanwhile, it is understood that striker Lyle Taylor was ered to City before joining Scunthorpe United.

e 24-year-old played for him at Falkirk and has joined e Iron after his release by Sheeld United. He scored twice in City's 3-2 Sixelds win against the Blades last season but those were his only goals for the club and he was farmed out on loan to Patrick istle.

Pressley would only say: "I'm delighted for him because like any manager who has had a player I like to see them progress and making their way."
