Press conference at MoA in preparations for Lebanese Wine Day in France.

NNA - Acting Agriculture Minister, Gebran Bassil, chaired Thursday an extended meeting at the Ministry in preparations for the Lebanese Wine Day in France, to be held on forthcoming May 14.

French Ambassador to Lebanon, Patrice Paoli, Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Louis Lahoud, Head of the Lebanese Industrialists Association, Nehme Efram, Head of Lebanon Chambers, Mohammad Shoucair, and former Minister Selim Warde representing wine producers in Lebanon attended the meeting.

Speaking at a press conference afterwards, Bassil hoped a national institute for vinery and wine would be established in Lebanon soon.

He upped calls upon the Lebanese owning lands to manufacture wine. "Lands are a source of wealth, not because of their real estate value, but because of their production value," he said.

"Lebanon has proven its capacity to excel, especially when we see that countries like France and Britain are ranked first and second importer of the Lebanese wine," he noted.

He finally thanked caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Hussein Hajj Hassan, "who opened the doors of his Ministry to this sector and who respects this particularity." "This is what wine is to us; it gives a better image of Lebanon's diversity and value," he concluded.
